The Playhouse Theatre building was constructed in 1915 and has a very storied past. It was built as a livery stable and later housed the Yellowstone Stagecoach in 1918, a Model T Ford dealership, a bowling ally, mercantile, and local post office (original PO Boxes still remain on premise). In 1948, Vera Cheney brought her first piano player from New York City and transformed the mercantile into a theater. Since then, the theater has been known as Diamond Littles, Dirty Jacks, The Pink Garter, and currently The Jackson Hole Playhouse.
