The National Register of Historic Places is the official list of the Nation’s historic places worthy of preservation. Authorized by the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, the National Park Service’s National Register of Historic Places is part of a national program to coordinate and support public and private efforts to identify, evaluate, and protect America’s historic and archeological resources.

The Jackson Historical Society and Museum
The Jackson Hole Historical Society and Museum is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and sharing the cultural history of Jackson Hole. The JHHSM illustrates the past and its connection to the present and future through local stories, traditions, places, and artifacts.
Founded in 1958 by collector and western history buff, Slim Lawrence, along with his friend and local businessman, Homer Richards, the JHHSM is a nonprofit 501(c)3 museum, archive, and educational center providing resources on the last 11,000+ years of human presence in the Tetons.
Come explore our diverse history from archaeology to indigenous peoples, to the fur trade and explorers, homesteading and settlement, ranching, dude ranching, tourism, mountaineering and outdoor recreation, conservation, and more. Teton Trust for Historic Places
The mission of the Teton Trust for Historic Places is to facilitate the preservation of Teton County’s historic structures and landscapes in perpetuity through partnerships with property owners, non-profits, and government entities. The Trust creates and maintains historic preservation easements.

Town of Jackson Historic Preservation Program
In February 2021, the Town of Jackson adopted into its Land Development Regulations (LDRs) a new program to preserve historic structures in the Town.

Teton County Land Development Regulations
Teton County, Wyoming doesn’t yet have a formal historic preservation program. However, the Teton County Land Development Regulations provide exceptions for historically significant properties. Click on the link above, select the Teton County LDRs and search for the word “historic” to quickly find the exceptions offered for historic structures. To apply for TCHPB Historically Significance Listing, please fill out the nomination form and return it to our office at tetonpreservation@gmail.com. Applications are reviewed once a month at the TCHPB meetings (public).

Teton County Historic Preservation Board List of Historically Significant Properties
Properties located in Teton County, Wyoming, are eligible for incentives once the property has been reviewed and determined suitable for the “Teton County Historic Preservation Board (TCHPB) List of Historically Significant Properties.” Please see the Teton County Land Development Regulations for descriptions of incentives. Requests for historic significance recognition may be submitted to the TCHPB by email at tetonpreservation@gmail.com.
Town of Jackson Historic Register Application Form
The Town of Jackson’s Historic Preservation Program offers incentives for owners of historic properties. Property owners may submit an application to the Town of Jackson Planning Department.
